The Great Wiffleball Bat Rally

I'm introducing something new at this year's Annual Country Fried Weekend event: The Great Wiffleball Bat Rally.

Inspired by this clip, I'm buying a wiffleball bat, writing ExPo on it, and will award it to a lucky winner.

The winner is determined thusly ----- travel distance in miles times number of occupants in the vehicle to the event. Children 3 and under count as two, children 3-12 as 1.5; pets count as one half. That's it; honor system on mileage.

My screen name and zero miles will be written on line one, winner's screen name and mileage total on line two.

Here's the catch. The winner has to have a similar event or meet-n-greet to offer the wiffleball bat up for capture to another lucky winner. And so on. Each winner entering their name and mileage.
The goal is to travel the bat around the country/world ---- I'd really like to see it make it to Overland ExPo (and beyond).

After a year of travel we'll see where the bat has gone. The member with the highest mileage for the year (multiple captures can add mileage --- so stalking is encouraged) will win some sort of fabulous swag from either Expeditions West or Overland Journal.

Travel distance round trip or one way to the destination?

One way, sir.

And in cases where somebody is on an extended trip, we'd have to figure something out.
Say somebody from Wales is in America on a 5 month boondoggle; they learn about a meet-n-greet where the bat will be up for grabs.
It should be the mileage from when they learned about the event and decided to go.
Again, honor system. I have faith in the ExPo demographic to play fair.

Congratulations to Zelix and his very brave/lovely daughter for winning the ExPo Wiffleball Bat at Country Fried Weekend 2011!

Look for him to be hosting a meet-n-greet in the near future for another lucky member to snag the bat.

The idea is to inspire and create meet-n-greets, ExPo camping trips, and other social activities that are forum-related.
Get out and travel. Do things. Meet people. Howl at the moon.

Big congrats on this major achievement. You and your daughter are in the record books as having earned the coveted ExPo Wiffleball Bat. Nobody ever remembers who was second place. Long after we're all gone your accomplishments will endure. Best of luck in your title defense.

Zelix --- don't forget to write "Zelix - 597.5" on the bat. Your screen name and point total.

It was an awesome event.

...and I'd never ever zip-tie a Wiffleball Bat; they are sacred items....

Thanks! It was an honor to win it. My daughter is so cool. She said, "See I'm your good luck. You couldn't win without me." She's right. We had a great time.... even as cold as it was.

I've already been researching, looking, meditating, and contemplating on what kind of event to host. I've been looking at places hear at teh bottom of Georgia. Hopefully that will entice a few more folks up from Florida as well. There are some sand dunes we could wheel on I'm told. I am looking for a secluded safe area for us all the camp as well. At bare minimum there is a park we could picnic at close by. I'll keep researching what is available. When the time is right I might throw up a poll in the eastern section and let everyone decide which route to take.

It's quite a challenge since I know how it's suppose to be done right from Hilldweller and Stumpy. But it gives me a good template to work from.:ylsmoke:

Its funny, I thought I was the only one that hawled on along. Some trips it is one of the best hits. I has brought new friends out of the woodwork in some camp grounds for an after dinner game. We lost our last bat somewhere along a road in WV. It will make a cool find to some kid walking along.

Yeah, Zelix. Are you going to take it to the Overland Rally & Workshop up in NC?

That would be a great place to pass it on; bet you'll find somebody there with a long tale to tell and lots of miles.

I'm trying to work up some riding event around the river here and some trails near the sand dunes. I've got some pals here going to show me some good jeep trails. Trying to do something worthwhile. I've got a lot of irons in the fire that I'm trying to get finish up.
