The ol switcheroo!

I have had multiple XJs and a WJ over my life of owning jeeps. About 1 year ago, we purchased our latest XJ with the hopes of having a good jeep that would last us a while and not have a car payment. Well, 12months later, we found ourselves back in the hunt for a replacement vehicle for the XJ. We were spending too much money on the XJ on repair parts and there was more coming on the horizon (axle rebuilds, transfercase rebuild/replacement). My wife was also not thrilled about riding in the XJ on the highway as it didn't handle the greatest (worn components).

This brings me to today! We are going to be replacing the 2000 XJ (136,100 miles) with a 2007 Rock Red 4-door JK Sahara. It has 40,xxx miles on it and is in great condition. The only real issue I saw with it was some squeeky brakes but I am hopefully attributing it to it sitting on the lot for a while.

I have attached a picture to show you what she looks like! Bonus Point to anyone who can tell me the brand of the bumper on it! I can't seem to figure it out. And does anyone want it? I would like to replace it with an ARB unit.:coffeedrink:

That bumper looks like an old Bulletproof MFG (FF2?) that has been modified to fit.

If it is, or is built as tough, I'd stick with that personally.

Paint it black and it won't look so "out there". Take a look at the green Jeep in the advert.

I'm not a fan of ARB bumpers on "universals" personally but do what makes you happy. :)

Edit: is it just the angle or colour combination? Has your bumper been modified to stick farther out front?

I'm not sure what the situation is for mounting. I'll have to take a closer look and take some pictures when I get it home. I'm heading up after work this evening to do the paperwork.

Well now that I have had it for a full 24hrs, the bumper doesn't sit out as far as I thought. It sits out just far enough to fit the winch plate. I think I am going to hang onto the bumper and refinish it. It looks like the powder-coat is still under it and they just painted over it. I'm going to try some paint stripper in a small area to see if I can take the paint off without damaging the powder coat underneath.

If I can't I guess I will have to take it off and have the whole thing baked off and re-coated. Hopefully that will not cost too much as it could be money that could go into a new bumper or the winch plate.
