Hey, how cool is that. That was my old buddy Marko's 109. It didn't sell so he kept it and drove it from Ontario to BC when he moved west. He then installed a Toyota diesel in it and drove it for a couple years before selling it. Last time I saw the truck, it was owned by a fireman in New Jersey.
That's my 88 behind it with me standing at the side. Here is another shot of the 109.

Thanks for the update! I come across those pictures every now and then and think of what could have been. This was in the dark years before the internet, and resources were limited. Every time I was in the position to buy a Series Land Rover, there wasn't anything available. There was one I used to pass on my way to work in Bolinas, CA. I left a note on it hoping they were willing to sell, but never heard a peep. Second one was one that British Northwest had just gotten in. The engine and frame were in good shape, and they were willing to deal before they tackled the body (it was rough) but I debated too long and it went to someone else. Went I got out to Texas, I don't really remember how I came across the 109, might have been in Hemmings. I just fell in love with it and got orders for a 6 month deployment right when I was ready to pull the trigger. My wife would have never forgiven me, but I think it would have been worth the grief I would have gotten. Again, this was when we were first married and before I learned how to get away with doing things that the wife doesn't understand.
