A crucial part of the quality of any overland experience is the attitude of the locals towards travellers. This basic vehicle has been greeted everywhere (even in the cities) with smiling faces and often a slap on the fender or rear bodywork with exclamations like “Strong vehicle!”, “Real 4x4!” etc. Priceless welcoming attitudes to sensitive areas, minimal extortion, corruption and harassment. A challenging feat to accomplish with a shiny new expensive luxury vehicle as locals worldwide are sensitive to inequality of income.
