this is my 2014 Jeep jk. i Call it, “The Tin Can“. I bought this Jeep about 2 years ago after the wife said no more money is going into my old Jeep ZJ. Now, I’m building out this thing. I’m a little late for a build thread but whatever. mainly using it for myself to document the fun that’s going to be had.

Here’s a quick side shot of the day I got it.

current specs:
2014 Jeep Rubicon

Exterior:
  • 3.5in JKS lift kit with fox shocks
  • RPM 1ton steering with flip kit
  • ats fox steering dampener
  • 38in Patagonia MTs on 17in fifteen52 wheels
  • poison spyder front and rear bumpers with Warn VR10k winch
  • paint matched fiberglass Fenders done by previous owner
Axles:
  • stock Dana 44 axle housings
  • 4.56 gear ratio by previous owner (will be changing)
  • dynatrac ball joints
  • reinforced control arm brackets by previous owner
  • powerstop z36 brake kit
i have plans to do some decent work to these axles. I havent really touched them because I was thinking of swapping in some 60s because i wanted to do some serious rock crawling. However, I have figured I’m more of a overlander than a rock crawler so I might just beef these axles up and call it good. What y’all think?

engine bay:
not a lot going on here.
  • banks cold air intake done by previous owner
  • ARB air compressor (not installed yet)
  • spod system (not installed yet)

Now we can get into some more fun stuff. My wife isn’t much a of a tent person😂. for a couple years I have tried to get her to join me but she would only join if we had a camper or RV. So after a couple years of looking and saving, finally found something we could both agree on. Just picked up last week. A 2023 Vorsheer XCT. Never used or sold in 2 years for some reason. Half of msrp so we jumped on it. I know the company went under but from what I have researched they made a decent trailer.

Now you‘re all caught up and the reason why i decided to make a thread now 🫡. Hope you enjoy and follow along as we travel around and continue to build out The Tin Can and now, the trailer 🤗🤙

That's a great looking set up! Flipping your trajectory to more overlanding from rock crawling, how's your mileage? From Texas on 80mph roads with my small trailer and 34s with 4:10s, I'm seeing 14mpg depending on headwind. Very curious what your set up yields.
