What are your thoughts on the turning radius...it has never been much of a consideration for me

You know Scott, I guess not too much for me until recently. I spent some significant road/farm time in the Midwest recently in a Dodge truck. I was really suprised about the lack of turning radius. Many cases required some tight damage-avoiding turns in some wood where I absolutely know with my LC I'd never give it a second thought.

I'll admit, I havn't taken any of these on any of the trails that we used to regular but somewhere I anecdotally feel I'd be dissapointed? (honest quetsion) in their ability (Elephant Hill, Dark Canyon area, Black Bear as example).

Even a SWB wrangler has a turning radius of 34'.

Wow, I didn't believe you at first, but alas it looks to be right around that, that's hard to believe.

Test drive a G-Class
Would love to; plus the wifey loves 'em! Anything however after 2001 will break the bank, though not as much as I'd have thought; any insights as to factory and aftermarket parts pricing? I'm also unaware as to the 3rd row &| if 3 Britaxen could fit across 2nd row.

Test drive an Excursion with a diesel
From what you've said before this is something I still plan to do, but not had the opportunity to meet with private parties.

Just know that the suspension is wrong on the excursion from the factory
I havn't head this. Can you elaborate?

The Excursion suspension has soft springs in the front, stiff in the rear and the shocks were valved completely wrong for both, so it wallows and pitches and generally rides poor on the street and trail, sometimes awful.

With a better spring set, matched to the load and a nice set of Donahoe valved remote res. shocks, it transforms the truck. I have driven an Excursion with this set-up and it was sweet.

If I had two/three kids and wanted a family adventure machine, it would be an Excursion for sure.
