Thoughts on 34x10.5R17 - 4Runner

I'm looking at upgrading the stock rubber on my 2013 TE 4Runner. I've tentatively settled on the BFG AT KO2 but am questioning how large I want to go. I was originally thinking about limiting the tire size to 275s in order to keep my gas mileage reasonable while still adding a little more meat to fill the holes the OME lift provided. Then I came across the new 34 x 10.50s... I love pizza and have always wanted to run some pizza cutters on my truck :sombrero:. They are 2+ inches taller than stock and .1" narrower. Would the increase in size kill the already sluggish motor without re-gearing?

I'm Not sure how much it would affect acceleration, mpg, ride but I also like that size. A member on t4r.org just installed them on his 2014. It really looks good. In fact, I'm thinking of going to that size on both of my 4runners in the near future. I also know of at least a few members on the FJ boards that use this size but I don't read over there much.

But how much more or less than going to a 285? They both weigh the same with the 34 b inc about .5 " taller based on the specs.
