Thoughts on PowerPlant for possible Project

This is Canyonlands example where you can lug along off idle getting great fuel economy. You can hear the low lug of the exhaust cackling along. This was a very flat and smooth portion west of the Colorado River in Canyonlands althought rougher spots are not much different in the desert.

This is a high altitude snow trip where the big block gets you a few gallons to the mile! :Wow1:

Nice, I love the sound and power of a gas big block. I am actually thinking about getting a 8.1 for a project I have.

I work on cars for a living and the newer Chevy V-8's are remarkably trouble free, can't say the same about the vehicles they are in. A 6.0 would be really sweet in a 70 Blazer.:victory:

Thanks for the input. The different perspectives are great.

Larry, your input is definitely appreciated. It makes a lot of sense. I could only make one large trip a year, so in that aspect the mpg gains associated with the diesel would not return the same benefit as if I were driving it on a more regular basis. It will be a weekend warrior rig.
The 6.0 L would be a cool setup, especially when backed with a manual tranny.

On the toyota advice, anything I can help with, don't hesitate.
