what does a guy need to look for on a montero.

i also saw an endeavor in my price range. Not looking for a wheeling rig i have one of those. more of daily rig.

likely not. I have 2-3k to spend on a daily rig and if it ever saw a trail it would be a dirt road leading to a NF camp site.

I have a Jeep on 37s i use for exploration stuff. Just not a huge fan of cars.

Having spent a lot of time looking at Montero ads and actual for sale vehicles I'll say that any gen 2.5 or 3 you find for $2-3k is going to need some serious work. I can't comment on Sports or Endeavors other than to say I used to work with a guy who had an endeavor in their stable. He said it was an outstanding vehicle.

I love my Sport. If you go that route I would stick with a 3.5l
