Cruising on the internet looking for trailer lights and found this.

For what it's designed for, it looks fine. It's for mounting a cargo carrier and allows you to rotate the cargo carrier (or bike rack etc). You don't connect a trailer to it.

It would work great to get my bike rack out of the way of my tire carrier swing out.

Walley world No thanks! too light weight.
Probably not DOT approved.

Taillights look on ebay for GROTE from a cab and chassis conversion.
There are several dealers that have them for less than $20.00 shipped with pigtails and brackets too.
They are large and bright.

Didn't want to use it like a max coupler. Just didn't know if anyone had used one with a bike rack or hitch carrier.

It's going to increase the moment arm of whatever load is placed on it. As long as it is a light enough weight should be okay. I would be more concerned about additional slop/rattle/vibration.
