THULE roof racks. Anybody use them?

Hello all,

Just curious to know if anybody uses Thule roof racks for expedition rigs? I have scoured this sight and have seen everything from homemade racks to the ubiquitous front runner and gobi racks but haven't seen many with Thule systems. Why is this? I understand the benefits of the custom and purpose built systems, but for someone who is budget challenged like myself Thule seems like a nice option. The products are of great quality, easy to find used, and can be had for relatively cheap second hand. Not to mention the array of options available.

So far everything I have from them has been perfect and customer service has been awesome so what am I missing here?

This is my current set up for my truck cap and I love it. Now I just need to find a long and skinny basket like the one from rhino rack.

I have a similar set up, not as many bars (right now) I have a Silverado crew cab, short box and it has a cap on it. Two 'yaks and my mountain bike go up there.

I've used Thule exclusively for years on all of my vehicles. I have a Thule crossbar system on Sidekick (and my WRX). It's been plenty sturdy for my roofbasket and stuff we throw in it.

Our new trailer also uses a Thule system for our RTT. For what it's worth, I've always had the square bars.

I ran a Thule rack system for more years than I can remember and never had a problem. I don't have the rack anymore since I've gotten out of the kayak hauling and moved my bikes to a wheel tray style hitch mounted rack. I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Thule system to anyone based on my personal experience with the brand.

I am using bajarack on my Jeep JK unlimitied and an INNO system on my mazda 5. The factory Mazda system is thule and a really nice system. I don't think they make a bad rack or product.

i've got the 80" or so thule load bars and one big ski box on top...going to go with a second box as soon as i get back to my ski shop job... i drive all over and off road with the bars and box loaded with ski gear... each bar can hold somewhere around 150-175lbs ...i mounted mine permanently on my topper( roof load weight for mine is 800#'s) so 2 ski box's with ski gear should do... i love them it is easily removed...things are just higher up and i needed a step ladder for me to get full access..I'm 6ft tall...i have used yakima as well my shop sells both so i have a mixture of goodies for the rig...IT comes down to witch company rep. is in town at the time and what items i can work a deal out on...they are expensive retail but my pricing makes it all reasonable....also have had the thule t2 bike rack and now have a yakima same style...

I've used Thule and Yakima systems with no issues and living by the coast almost zero corrosion with either.
