Time Machine: Gen 1 TRD Tacoma: 3,600 miles in Santa Cruz, CA

Wish you could go back in time and buy a brand new Gen1 Tacoma?
Here's your chance: http://monterey.craigslist.org/cto/5044025737.html

Ad reads:
This amazing truck is one of a kind, one owner. It has barely been driven and only 3,600 miles. 1999 Limitited Addition TRD with off road 4wd. It has a sun roof, and bed cover. This truck smells new and has original tires.

Given that it's essentially a brand spankin' new 1999 4WD Toyota Tacoma TRD Limited, the asking price of $21k seems fair... where else are you going to get one of these?

wow - how would you keep from putting any miles on it? Just over 200 miles a year? Would there be concerns on the lack of movement/oiling?

Lol $21,000 dollars? Someone's been smoking some good stuff. Apparently the seller isn't familiar with depreciation. Cool truck though.

Low mileage rust free 1st gen tacomas in mint condition usually sell for well over $20K. There was a TRD 4x4 on here about six months ago with 30k miles, went for $23-24K. It was gone in a couple days.

They are great trucks. I would be suspicious of this because the mileage is so low and the pictures are very low resolution. Looks kind of scammy IMO.

Geez, why?

My guess would be size... there aren't a lot of options for small trucks with most of the more modern ones growing larger each generation.

If that one is legit I wouldn't be surprised to see it locally for $23-$26k on a dealer lot.

That's just completely absurd to me. I know they're good trucks, I own one (a second gen) and have always been amazed at the resale value. One of the reasons I bought new, uses ones weren't that much cheaper.

Yes I think your exactly right. Size and Toyota quality. Nobody makes a "small" capable truck anymore, except the Chevy Colorado and there not even in the same league.

The only ones that go for that money are the rare and elusive double cabs
