Gday guys,

I stubled accross this website and thought i had to join.
You blokes seem to do a lot of the stuff we take for granted in Australia, if you want to drive then long range touring is what you have to do. Im 19 and at University at the moment so the funds are low but im slowly building my car up into a decent tourer and weekend warrior.

We start off with my rig.
She is a 1989 Ford Maverick, which was a GQ nissan Patrol with ford badges on it that was the only differnce!

She is running the mighty TD42. a 4.2L straight 6 N/A diesel. Whilst she isnt fast she gets there and doesnt chew much fuel i can obtain as good as 25+ mpg on the highway. but a turbo is on the cards

Since i purchased her ive done the following mods
Snorkle - A must for any diesel and they look ****hot!
ARB Winch Bar - no winch yet...
2" body and spring lift - Jest enough lift for the rought stuff
33" Pro Comp muddies - I love this tyre quiet, great on and offroad
Black 15x8 rock crawlers - tough rims

Extended Diff breathers
Extended Gear box and transfer cass breathers
ERPS - this is Electronic Rust Protection System. dont know how it works but ive got no rust :D

rear 1/4 chop - nessesary to fit larger tyres and the rear bar

Cheezy racing rear bar with dual swingaway's - 2 jerry can holder and spare tyre
Cheezy sliders

Interior
GME Tx3400 remote head UHF
Pioneer Speakers
JVC head uni
eXplorist 600 GPS running discover aus topo
Bucket seat - GQ's have the worst seats i have ever sat in

Comming
Home made rear drawer system
home made rear light bar
Roof Rack
Diff locks
Long range tank
45l Sub tank

Here is a few pics of her in action

Ok....I hate you. :p

Not really, but insanely jealous of any 19-year-old with a Patrol...ok ok, insanely jealous of ANYONE with a Patrol, since we can't get them (read: easily) in the States.

Well im in the process of making rear drawers for the rig, possibly adding a 4 point cage for saftey as the shorty's get a bit excited and pop a wheel on steep stuff, sub tank is waiting to be installed which should give me 1000km range between fill ups, and im looking at getting a water tank made up for her

will get pics of the new mod's once they are done and installed
