The WARN Multi-Mount allows you to mount a WARN winch to a portable cradle that can be inserted into a class III receiver hitch. You can use it on the front or back of your rig, and it can be completely removed if you don't want it on the vehicle at all. So where do you put it when it's not in use?
Many people will strap down their Multi-Mount system in their truck's bed or SUV's cargo area until they need it. However, just make sure it's strapped down securely so it doesn't move around and damage anything or, worse case, you get into an accident. You don't want 100+ lbs. flying around! So make sure it's secure.
We all know that when you get stuck, it can be a chaotic situation, so the last thing you'll want to do is start hunting for your remote, the hitch pin, the cotter pin, or have to futz with the power cord. So here are a few easy things you can do to keep your WARN Multi-Mount at the ready, so when you need it, it's all there.
• The last thing you want to do when you need your winch is to lose the remote. Take a couple of zip ties and fasten it to the setup.
• Keep the power cord neatly wrapped up by zip tying it to the winch and cradle. It'll also help prevent accidentally setting the Multi-Mount on the cord, which could potentially damage it.
• A Multi-Mount goes into a class III receiver, so it's useless without a hitch pin. Again, break out the zip ties and strap the pin do the fairlead so you know where it is. Also, keep that cotter pin in the hole so it stays put, too.
These are all simple tips, but they can help take some of the stress out of a vehicle recovery if you're using a Multi-Mount setup. So get yourself some zip ties and GO PREPARED before you even hit the trails.
