tire size: what would you pick between the two?

225/70/17 or 235/65/17. I can get the 235s in the Hankook AT, and the 225 in a yokohama AT. Deciding what to get for the patriot.

Took a look at your site; 2015 Patriot Altitude, right? Appears the only differences between that and the standard version is cosmetic (black aluminum wheels/black accents). With a 2.0L/150hp for motivation, CVT, and OE gearing, I'd be awful hesitant in selecting larger rubber, especially with a travelling family on-board.

Personally a fan of articulation/flex/full-lock without rubbing, and a quick look on the forums shows anything larger not able to do that (not much space with this design). I'm also a fan of taking into account whatever the OE chose on their best off-road package (if such a thing exists for a vehicle). It does here (Trail Rated model), and that fitment was 215/65/17.

All things considered, that'd be my pick. Good luck!

No mine has a 2.4l, 4x4, 6spd automatic, no cvt garbage. I owned a trail rated 2010 patriot, and my 2015 has the same suspension and, now with the 6sp instead of the cvt i have the same low range (very close). Both sizes fit and move along fine with no rubbing. I am wondering between the two. Many people use both, and I am trying to figure out which ones to order.

While only talking about 10mm in section width difference.... it's still wider.

If you see a bit of snow driving, I'd stick with the narrower rubber.

It'll also offer a little more sidewall height, and typically lighter, though, that close in size, not sure how much.

Depending on terrain, that yokohama is a great tire. A lot of trucks out here in the desert run them and theyre great for float in the sand.

Yes, that is the AT hankook I am talking about. I have dedicated studded winter tires for it for the winter. This is strictly summer/spring/fall tires. I think the 235 are what I am going to use. Main reason is I had great luck with hankook at-ms in the past.

Yeah, go with the Hankooks. No one here in CO runs the Yokos on the trail. They are a decent pavement pounding all-terrain, but i have never seen a set on a trail.

All depends on your type of uses. Do you need to float on top of sand or gumbo, or do you need to cut down thru it?

Neither, most of our terrain is hard rocky trails. No gumbo, or sand. Remember, this place is called the rock for a reason! ha ha. Sand is by lakes here......if your lucky. Mud, only in spring....So most times, its hard packed trails.
