Tires for my Cherokee, cant decide.

Hi everyone,

Im looking to get some new tires for my Cherokee soon, and I cant decided what to pick. I'm really interested in a set of BFG All Terrains, but I dont have $135 bucks a pop for them, especially considering I'll be ordering 5. I've looked into re-treaded tires, and they seem like a great deal. Lookin at TreadWright's website, I found 2 different ones that I like. Normally, I would get their All Terrain re treads, but they only have them in 31's, and Im running 30's on my rig with stock suspension. The links to the two different tires Im looking at are at the bottom of this post. I like the Pumas because the seem pretty close to the BFG's, but at the same time, the Crawler tire is pretty close to the BFG Baja T/a tire, which I also like, but the smallest BFG Baja is in a 33. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alex.

What kind of driving do you do? Is your jeep a daily driver or do you spend quite a bit of time off the pavement? If you spend more time on pavement, I'd go with that Puma tire. But if you spend time in muddy or rocky conditions that Crawler might be better. The Crawler will probably be noisier on pavement too and will probably wear the treads down bald faster. Unfortunately, the only good method to see if a tire is right for you is to try them which means a substantial output of money.

treadright AT's (puma) are excellent tires...go for it. I've run them on two different trucks.

very tough, sticky, but well-wearing, and they balance with a bare minimum of wheel weights (all treadwrights are like that, but AT's are the best)

crawler is MUCH noisier. I've run that one, too. much more as far as rotational weight, too.

The Jeep will be my daily driver. i dont really expect to do much off pavement, and most of it would be dirt and gravel roads, maybe an occasional sand dune run with friends.

Im leaning towards the Pumas. I dont need anything super aggressive and I like the price too. I may just pull the trigger and get those. Just need to get approval from the parents, and then get the cash. :)

This is an interesting tire. I like how the center lugs are really close, for smoother ride. Nice retro look too. I wonder how quiet they are https://www.treadwright.com/shopnow/product/tabid/61/productid/4/sename/30950r15-mud.aspx

I thought about those too, but they seem a little too aggressive for anything I'd be doing. And I think they were a little more expensive. And I'd like the tires to be a decent blend of capable tread, and quiet tread, but I dont think theres such a thing. :)
