Titan Overheating

Skibum- I haven't burped the new radiator yet. Might give it a shot when I get back to Texas.

The WABDR wasn't all that difficult from a technical standpoint. There wasn't ever a point where the size of the Titan (Width and Length) was a huge issue. Even the "Jungle" section wasn't all that bad, we only had to cut down one tree that was blocking the RTT. You definatley can't be afraid to get some Sierra PinStripes on your truck though. I doubt my paint will ever be the same! We also spent the majority of the trail 6-12 inches from the edge of a cliff due to the width.

My main fear was how heavy our truck ended up. We were at 7500lbs (according to the CAT scales) which is about 400lbs over the GVW of a Pro-4x Titan. I upgraded the suspension and it seemed to carry the weight pretty well. We haven't had any problems with it yet after 5300 miles and the WABDR. The RTT, Contractor Rack and LEER Shell made the Titan a bit topheavy though, which produces some very exciting off-camber, downhill handling.

madmax- I just cleaned all that up with an air compressor. I like your idea with the thermal sensor. I need to get an OB2 sensor anyways, this just gives me a good excuse! I have been leaning towards airflow as well, I was thinking about maybe adding an electric fan to the system either to push air out of hood louvers or pull air in front of the radiator.

I've got a couple more months of hot weather when we get back to Texas, should have plenty of time to diagnose and hopefully fix the problem before it gets cool again.

Thanks for all your feedback!

Just blow out! Not in! (when you use the air compressor). I like the scan guage II but there are I think equal or better units out there. Make sure you get one that can read the system trans temp.
