TJM T15 / Warn CE XD9000

I'm having a bit of an issue with getting the lever for the planetary on my Warn XD9000 into a position that is accessible from the top of my TJM T15 bumper. I've clocked my winch, but it doesn't line up straight.

On one clock setting, the grill of the truck prevents the lever from going where it needs to go. On the other potential setting, the access hole in the bumper seems to be a bit too short (front to back). It looks like I'll need to do a small cut to the bumper to get the lever to function, but it appears that the lever may still run into the bumper a bit. What about spacers on the back side of the bumper?... I wonder if that might work.

Surely there are a few folks here who have run into this issue, and I don't really want to make a cut in the bumper unless I know that it's going to work- I'm sure you can understand.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and if you have a picture to help explain what yours looks like, that would be great! I'd like to make this work sooner rather than later, as I ran into the issue of needing to winch today, and had to get a bit muddy in the process by getting low and reaching up under the bumper to have to move the planetary lever. Here in the NW, a lot of winching is due to mud, and getting ones clothes and interior all muddy is no fun.

I did a search for this problem, but didn't come up with anything that addressed it all that well. If it's been covered before, please feel free to simply link to it instead of starting the whole thing over again in this thread.

I hope your friend didn't take apart the front of his truck in
the snow and cold in an attempt to find a solution- like the
guy with the truck in this pic below did:

"Um... that's not my truck... that's some other guy's truck
that just looks like mine would... if I was silly enough to take
apart the front of mine in a snowy gravel driveway at night."

Oh shoot. I wouldn't put it past him. I'm sure he wouldn't do that if it were 20 degrees though.
When you die senor. Can I have your watch?

I had this exact problem and ended up cutting the clutch lever and turning it 90* then TIG welded it back up.

I also mounted my solenoids under the hood.

Had to open up the hole in the TJM for the lever on my SmittyBilt XRC8 to work right after clocking the housing...

.. until then I just accessed it from underneath.

normally we take out the gearbox lever, heat it up and bend it up.

we were a tjm distributor for 12 years, no longer, tjm is run by money hungry xxxxx with no idea of the 4wd industry at all.

Thanks for the info, and the pics! I think that that is the route that I'll be going, or perhaps even machine a new lever. Good idea on mounting the solenoids under the hood too. Mine were mounted under the bumper, but I think getting them higher and dryer is a good idea- maybe the same location as yours, or maybe I'll fab up a bracket to place it close to the battery. Again, thanks for the info and pics!
