tool to remove ac compressor pulley

Turns out that it is the clutch and bearing assembly that went bad on my ac compressor. Does any one know what type of tool I need to take the pulley off?

These kinds of things require a special tool. I'm guessing that you can get it off with a power steering pump pulley puller.

Try that car-parts store called AutoZone. They have a loaner-tool program. This all depends on your exact model of compressor, but you'll probably need
  • a special spanner-wrench to hold the assembly
  • an oddball socket to remove the center nut
  • a hub-puller of one kind or another
  • a special bolt or hub-installer tool to put it back together

They can probably tell you which exact tools to use for your setup -- of course, they'll want you to buy the replacement parts at their shop. Undoubtedly there are some tricks involved, so check online to see how others have done your exact unit.

Good luck.
