Yes, it's pretty good. NOT the MOST detailed of software, but it is enough to keep you from going somewhere you shouldn't. pretty easy to keep tracks on and we've never had "software issues" with it. I run it on a Acer netbook w/ XP and Acer laptop w/ window7. If you find a good price I'd say jump on it.

Never had an issue, as said before it is not CRAIGS maps, but pretty user friendly

I like it - pretty powerful software once you learn the interface. Get their $30/year Map Library subscription and then you can download color imagery and USGS topo quads to your hard drive for additional data layers - awesome!

lexwoody hope you bought the copy from dms1. I've been using TOPO 7 for a little over a year now and like it alot. It does take a bit to learn but just take your time and don't get frustraited with it. When in dought use the HELP feature. Let us know how it works out for you :smiley_drive: Hope the LT-40 reciever comes with it.

Hard to beat the Delorme topo. I use Topo 7 and while it is kind of cumbersome, it is inexpensive and very complete. Combined with an inexpensive GPS usb receiver, you can navigate nearly anywhere for very little $$. Plus, it does very good routing, and even routes over most offroad trails and tracks. It will route streets and highways like the normal street software, so it's quite versatile.

The downside is the cumbersome interface, which is not intuitive, but gets easier with time. I run it on a Netbook and think for the price, it totally rocks.

I think the reason it feels cumbersome is because of the tabs across the bottom... they would 'normally' be found across the top as drop-downs in other windows applications. Since this is navigation software I've heard that the software uses the tabs instead so the drop-down/pop-ups don't cover the map when you are navigating!

Funny thing is have you seen Microsoft Office 2007? They use a similar 'tab' arrangement across the top of the screen, feels really cumbersome when I first started using that too...
