Tore a CV Boot

Couple weekends ago I was out exploring some great power line roads off of Lolo pass by Mt Hood. At some point the road ended with no turn around. so put it into four low and proceeded to drive into some fairly thick brush. just yesterday I noticed some grease splatter on my inner wheel well, upon closer look it appears a pin size hole was punctured through the boot. I managed to find a replacement boot yesterday at a local Nissan dealership (50$ !!!!! for one boot!). no one makes an aftermarket one, that I could find. I am heading out on a camping trip this afternoon. I do not have time to pull my axle shaft and replace the boot before I go. This is the part that I am embarrassed about, I wrapped the CV boot TIGHT with electrical tape to keep the grease from flying out. Do you guys think I will be alright for the next 300miles until I get back on Sunday? Or should I take my tools and replace it out while camping? I hate to tear down while camping, but it has been done before. either way, I will have the tools to tear down in case I have too, but I rather wait until I get home and in the garage.
By the way: there was probably a ounce of grease splattered around the wheel well, the new boot comes with about a 6 ounce bottle. Just to give you an idea of how much was lost.

made it back with the truck still in one piece! found some great trails though. had to winch out of one while dragging the rear bumper through a rocky dried up creek bed. pictures never do it justice! here are a couple shots. Now I need to find time to pull the old boot and put on the new one this week.

Nice pics.

For a pin hole, some rtv silicone or ultra balck gasket maker would have work in plugging it.

good thinking guys. I wish I would have thought of that last week! At this point I will just replace the boot so I can make sure the CV joint is still in good condition. I would hate to seal it up at this point only to find out in a couple months that there is minimal grease left in there and have a CV joint sieze up on me.
