Toyo red light issue

red light on dash glowing..

OK maybe a basic Q

The handbrake light is full on
Disengage the hand brake and the light stays glowing.

Normally this means the alternator is history...

But the battery is full
The voltages are good both engine running and off
The switch on the handbrake is good.
Battery brand new
terminals brand new

What does this little glowing light mean ?...low amperage ?

In my older years it meant turn off everything not required and run for home before the battery dies

Yup, Kurt is probably right on. This is the problem 99.95% of the time, low brake fluid. It's supposed to indicate it's time to replace to service them (assuming there is no leak). My truck when the charging system is weak has a dummy light, IIRC it actually says CHARGE. But I also have the voltage gauge in my instrument cluster.

This is my first toyo for about 20 years...my last was a mark 1 celica

funnily enough with the same engine...

On old brit cars it was always the warning for alternator...yep have seperate voltage indicator

will rumage around tommorow

Thanks for the info- I was about to splurge on a new alternator and regulator..

so much for my basic truck knowledge....duh
