Toyota Landcruiser found in Lybia

Wow, somebody should tell them to remove that "damage multiplier" bush bar. They're really risking damage to their vehicle with that thing one. :)

The 1987 war between Chad and Libya is often refered to as the Toyota War or the Hilux War because Chadian calvary used Hilux pickups mounted with machine guns.

This however looks like more of a crowd control secret police type deal. By crowd control I mean slaughter. Still a very interesting piece though.

I've seen that sort of thing in Oman and larger suburbuns with miniguns mounted in a similar way
they were used as presidential protection escorts

or in Omans case it was Sultan protection.

Did you guys happen to notice the labels for the buttons were in English? I really don't think it belonged to either side. You know those NATO air strikes need some ground support too . . .

Libya is not an un-educated country

just a represed society under a dictator

English is not an issue

Yes worked there for three months back almost 15 years ago in the height of international disassociation due to lockerbie and other issues

Well, the morning commute wouldn't be much of a worry I guess.

Kinda scary how something like that is just sitting besides the road, unattended. I know it's not the best situation over there at the moment, but are heavy weapons that prevalent that a free belt-fed machine gun is just not appealing to anyone?

Reminds me of The Jackal, with Bruce Willis.

Thanks!
Matto :)

^^ Awesome - it's got a tub!

"Proper" Landcruiser tubs are unheard of over here - the people that really want them bring them in from South Africa usually. They're sold as cab-chassis here, and pretty much every one ends up with a drop-side tray.

Thanks!
Matto :)
