toyota pick ups tires and lift

I just bought my son a 94 toyota pick up 2wd, I got a great deal and it has the venerable 22re motor and runs like a top. I want to make it more road worthy for dirt roads and snow, so I need bigger tires and I may need to lift it to do that, is there a market for inexpensive lifts for 2wd trucks? Anybody have an idea of the biggest tires I could get away with on 14inch rims?

Don't know about the rims but it would seem likely that you could find 15's with the same bolt pattern. For lifts, here are a couple options.

There is lots more of the whole SoCal prerunner scene but I don't know much about it so I'll leave it to someone that does.

One other note, the Total Chaos stuff requires switching to fiberglass high clearance fenders. The Downey site doesn't mention it but you probably should check on it.

For something more mild you can likely do a small t-bar crank and rear add a leaf.

Something to chew on anyway.

You can find someone with some Jeep wheels and tires (5x4.5 15" wheels) and bolt them right up. I ran some 215/75-15's on my stock 92 Toyota pickup. If you crank the torsion bars and run an add a leaf on the rear you can run a 235/75-15 tire.

The aren't many lift options out there for the 2wd's. You can run a Fab tech lift spindle which will give you about 3" lift in the front. You can go long travel with Total Chaos or Camburg, but that is money.

Back in the day, I ran 235's and put 200lbs of gravel (in bags) in the bed and tackled many of the local trails.

Is that the bolt pattern (5x4.5)? So, you think I could run those rims on my 94 toyota 2wd with 215 75 15 with no lift at all?

Long time no see. I am jealous of you sons gas milage. Hope you taco has been treating you well. You should be good with the 215/75r15. 235's might help slow him down some and give him some more height. If he has some tires with a good compound and some weight in the bed he will be set, especially if this winter is like last years.

It has been a long time, we never did go for that mountain bike ride. I just got back from climbing Denali about four weeks ago. Thanks for the info, know of anywhere in town I can find some used 15"rims and tires, besides craigslist of course?

We need to go ride.

I had some of you coworkers over unexpectedly and they told me you were going to Denali. I would call Rex tires and talk with Brian. He is a stand up guy and really knows his stuff. I am sure he will send you in the right direction.

We do need to ride. I have been building a 69er for 9 months now and it should be done in the next week, so I am really excited to ride a lot.

I pmed you my number. I have a set of 15" wheels in my garage if still need some.

I got your pm but since I'm on here and my cell is dead, I'll just ask... what bolt pattern are they? I need a 5 lug with 4.5" diameter pattern, not sure on back spacing.
