Toyota Tacoma RTT Question

Hello All,
I am finally getting out of my commuter vehicle and back into a truck ('17 Tacoma TRD) next week. I have been running a Tepui RTT on my wife's Subie and will be transferring it over for this coming year. So my question is, who carries their RTT over the cab? Would I be better off just running my RTT over the cab and nothing on the topper (sway, center of gravity, stability, etc)? The flip to that is, who prefers racks over the cab and topper? Thanks everyone!

Chops, I originally had a topper on my 14 taco. I sold it and went with a bed rack and RTT at cab height. I didn't lose any mpg (if so very minimal) it is heavy but still has a lower center of gravity and I am able to pull it straight into the garage. I have the smitybilt XL tent on rentless fab high bed bars. It perfect for me. Good luck !

Thanks for the response! I'm curious what you do for weather protection? Tonneau, Tarp? I'm out in the PNW now, so rain is an issue (I wish SOMEONE would have told me it rains more here than CO! :) ). I like the security of the topper but I really like the half height racks as well, I think they look sharp.
