Toyota Tundra 2nd Gen Expo Build

Hi all,

Long time lurker here. Great site with tons of great information! I have a 2008 Tundra that I am looking to outfit for some heavier duty expeditioning. I have run it through lots of outdoor activities and trails and would like to be able to access off the grid travel a little better. I am currently building a new, sleek rack to replace the current heavy, bulky one I have now. I am planning on running several light bars on it to have 360 degrees of light. I also would like to mount a couple of marine grade speakers on the underside of the rack to have a little fun :)

I have very little electrical wiring experience and don't know where to start with this. Seeing that I am adding about 100 amps of electrical load to the truck, I am planning on installing a second isolated battery and possibly upgrading the alternator (if that is encouraged) I will also be installing a 12 volt ac outlet in the bed of the truck to eventually power a portable fridge. I would like to be able to remove the rack (although that would likely rarely occur) and also be able to turn on the light bars separately via rocker switches in the cab. My question is: is it even possible to run a setup like this (removable rack with light bars mounted, independently operated?) and if so, does anyone have any ideas as to how to wire this setup and keep it somewhat easy to remove/put back on?

I appreciate the responses in advance-I am just starting this journey and need a bit of guidance :sombrero:

Welcome! I also have an 08 Tundra. Awesome platform to work from. For lots more Tundra info check out the Toyota section of the thread and also the search bar.

Im no professional with wiring but this has been done many of times in some variation. As you get down and into the forum you will find all the info you need! The search bar is your friend. Hope this helps!
