so I am building a trailer to tow behind my rig (LJ80). Weight is very important because I don't have power to spare. My plan is either something like the m416 with a roof top tent on it or go right to building a very small tear drop trailer style to sleep in the trailer rather than on top in a tent.
My first step is trying to decide if I want to use aluminum or steel. Aluminum is a lot lighter and a little different to weld but is a lot more money. what would you use? Can I build the frame out of steel all the way to the tongue and then build the rest of the trailer in aluminum to keep the weight down.
Going to make it the same width as the LJ with the same track so where the LJ passed it will follow in the same tracks. Pintle hitch with rotating tongue and going to make the tongue long enough to have room.
This will be built to sleep two (crowded) but weight is the key. I'm not ever in a rush when I wheel and I hit the dirt 15 minutes after I leave my house.
