Trailer hitch cargo carrier for Rubicon?

Well, after our first trip out in our 2 door Rubicon we quickly learned there is virtually zero cargo space in the 2 door model. I really don't want to add a roof rack because we want to switch between the hard top and the soft top. So I've been looking at trailer hitch mounted carriers like this one. But my guess is with the upswept platform for more ground clearance it won't let the back door open.

So does anyone have any better cargo carrying ideas for a 2 door Rubicon? Either with the hitch mounted platform option or any other ideas?

Thanks very much for any suggestions.

Warrior Products rack works for me. It's stout, but heavy. Incredibly it comes with no tie down hooks. I added the eye bolts on mine.

Thinking about it now, I had to drill another hole in the hitch part of the rack to get it to clear my spare tire, fortunately it was long enough to allow for the mod with out welding on an extension.

Get the Rola high density polypropylene hitch carrier and matching vinyl cargo bag from Amazon for about 150. It rides high on the hitch, is lightweight and very durable. I have used it on 5 trips and off road on JK and WK2 and love it. Also there was just enough clearance to swing the gate open with my BFG MTs.

I have a 4 door 2012 Rubicon and still had storage problems.kids, dog, ice chest, gear... adds up quick.Built a small off road trailer that holds everything and it tags along great. I'm in Durango as well so you can come check it out if you like.

I like the tuffy security deck as an option. When rolling topless and doorless I can put the important stuff below and bags and stuff like that above. Then I can lock and secure valuables undernieth.
