Trailer Jack advice

Can someone please let me know a good trailer jack for my camper? I need one with a wheel at the end, but it needs to have some length to it. Right now I am 28 inches from frame to ground.

Any ideas?

When I purchased mine, I too couldn't find one long enough with a wheel. So, I purchased one that was long enough with a "foot". I then cut the foot off, and welded a "replacement wheel assembly" to the jack. A local trailer supply store should be able to help you out with it.

are you looking for a tonge jack or stabilizers?
Mines fairly high up there I bought a very basic tounge jack welded the mount to the trailer and welded a big wheel with a lock under that it seems to work good for me

You need what is called a drop foot jack. Any of the recommendations above will work with that also.

A drop foot jack has a pin you pull, that allows an addtional 15" or so drop down from the bottom of your jack, that way you're not cranking your brains out to get the right height .

I recently replaced the cheapo jack I got from Northern tool with the real deal...a Fulton F2. It is super stout, has a massive wheel with brake and a great pivot mechanism. The mount is adjustable in height so it works well with our lifted off-road trailers. The phone photo below shows the old "toy" next to the new "beef".

We to switched out the wheel jack with the Fulton Product.

Here's a Drop Foot just installed on Son of ROAM...it's way over kill though, I think it's rated for 5000lb. or something.

The wheel on the front is really nice, and super handy if your facing tongue weight too hard to move, but I find the plate to work well, and doesn't want to roll around with it.

I would also go with a drop leg jack. I like them better than the swivel up ones but that's my personal preference. If you want one with a wheel you can always bolt a swivel caster on the foot of the jack leg.

Not on an expedition trailer but I just replaced the top crank non-drop leg jack on our trailer to one of the ones from Harbor Freight. It was a pretty nice unit and was pretty cheap to boot. So far I've been pleased.

I've got 3 drop leg jacks on my trailer. They're great. Rated at 5000lbs each or something, I can jack the wheels right off the ground for leveling and stability, or changing a wheel, etc.

I picked up this 30 dollar jack from Harbor Freight (at the store). Shipping is fairly cheap if you don't live near one. It's rated at 1500 pounds, and it's pretty stout. Swing back and lockable in both positions.

I think it's more than I needed, but for 30 bucks, how can you go wrong?

Drilled 4 holes, bought grade 8 hardware (it had other hardware included, but I upgraded) and bolted it all together. Easy as pie.

I think I have the same "old" unit as you or similar. Mine can be swung out of the way but I'd like to upgrade to a beefy unit like yours. Does yours swing out of the way as well?

Alai: Yes, the mechanism is superior too. You can see the black easy grip release handle in the stock pic below. My previous jack wobbled quite a bit while this one is rock solid, plus has the added bonus of a parking brake(works when you have the wheel turned so it forces the brake aginst it). Also, this is the only jack I've seen that has a clip to hold the handle in place when stowed to prevent rattling. This is definately the Caddilac of jacks.
