DPReview.com just published a review of "travel zoom" cameras. These are point and shoot cameras with a relatively long lens, the sort of compact and flexible camera that's perfect for a vacation where you don't want to be weighed down by a DSLR camera bag. These cameras offer a lot of manual control as well as full auto mode that produces very good photos at the touch of the shutter release. Most include HD movie modes, too.
The winners this year are something of a surprise. Beating cameras from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Fujifilm, Sony, Kodak, Ricoh and Panasonic, the top of the travel zoom class of 2010 are the Casio FH100 ($285) and Samsung HZ35W ($350).
