Tundra TRD suspensin verse OME suspension

I had all but decided to up grade my suspension from the stock TRD suspension to the OME.

What type of differences will I notice?

Currently I have a 1.5 leveler on the front and Air Lifts on the back.

The leveler will go, but what about keeping the Air Lifts?

Also currently, it is 39 inches, both front and back, from the ground to the top of the wheel well. Will this change?

Last question, I swear. I was thinking of changing tire size from stock 275/65/18 to 275/70/18. I want the same size contact patch, but a larger diameter tire.

Thanks so much from a new guy.

Hello there, Welcome to the thread! For all information Tundra, check out Tundratalk.com. Its forms are a wealth of information and advice. There is lots of OME discussion on there already to check out.

Ill try to answer the best I can.

You will notice an increased ride hight. Depending on selected springs, light medium or heavy, your ride can be stiffer or more plush.

The leveling kit will definitely go. They are a very poor choice for lifting and will not work with the new coilers. The air bags are not designed to "lift" the truck. They are designed to help stabilize a load and should not be used to lift. With OME you can keep the stock springs and add a lifting block (usually 1" or so) but this is not the recommended tactic for lift. You can add some leaves to the spring pack but that isn't recommended unless you regularly carry weight in back (which you might already if you have air bags?). The third option is get a new set of shackles from coach builder to achieve your lift. This is a very good upgrade to do no matter what choice you make. The last and best option is the new spring pack from OME. It is about $600 but you are really doing it right that way. As for the airbags you will most likely be able to keep them with any option you chose.

That hight will change depending on the springs and packages you choose. Be prepared to see an increase anywhere from 2"- 3.5" or more with a larger diameter tire.

That tire size should fit just fine.

Hope this helps! and like I said be sure to check out Tundratalk for more information and detailed write-ups and pictures of exactly what you are trying to do. Hopefully a few of the members with this set up chime in for some more info.
