1st:
Replacing a leaking, cracked fuel tank due to me hitting it coming out of a hole. So, good D1 tank protection?

2nd:
Looking for a good place for Series buyers information. Ive decided that a D1 isnt enough punishment and my MGs need a Rover counterpart.

1. Has your tank already been replaced on the recall? If not, you should get a free one.

2. Start here: http://www.lrfaq.org/

I prefer the II/IIa metal dash over the SIII padded dash.
Unless you really want the padded dash I suggest looking for IIa's (since you're planning on a rebuild, based on your comment in another thread) and the "good stuff" from SIII are bolt on for IIa's.
The main reason being that the SIII dash has a lot of hidden bits of metal that rust. Also, if you end up getting it from the UK, a RHD-to-LHD conversion is easier on a IIA.
That's all personal opinion and worth what you paid for it. :)

Columbia Overland has a nice one.

I have a Southdown(Bright yellow ;D ) because the price was right.
There's also a RTE knock off out there that's reasonably priced, just be prepared to take some flack.

Yeah, the tank was replaced under warranty a few years ago but has met with some holes, ledges, etc... between 2006 and now so its actually cracked. The recall was for leaking breathers. Ill have to armor the tank now I guess.

I like the SIII a little more than the SII or IIA. Not too sure why but just kind of do. Ill check out the faq site for sure. If its RHD, thats fine with me. A safari/ tropical roof would be a plus.

I have the Columbia Overland one and my friend just installed the RTE version. The steel is thinner than the aluminum so the factory hardware 'may' not be perfect with the Columbia Overland one. I just went with a larger bolt to get a perfect fit. They are both excellent choices!
