Under-Bed Water Tanks for 1/4 Ton Trailers

I am trying to find an old thread that discussed under-bed water tanks for 1/4 ton trailers. There was a post of a CAD drawing for a custom made poly tank designed to fit between the frame crossmembers. I think the poster was from central or northern California. The trailer may have been either an MBT, T3, T3-C, M100 or M416.

Unfortunately, I can't remember if the thread was here or on another forum. My recollection is that it was probably somewhere else, but I can't be sure. I'm not finding it by using the search function on any of the "trailer sites" I have frequented.

Can anyone help me find it? I want to move my water tank from inside the tub to underneath, and the design was very slick. I'd like to use it.

Thanks.

I bought a 20 gal water tank from West Marine. It fit perfectly between the frame rails on my m416 just in front of the axle. I built a bracket to hold it and plumbed it to a water pump and then my demand heater. It works perfectly! hope this helps.

Not the thread I was thinking of, but good information there.

The thread I am trying to find had a drawing of a custom made tank that fit between the frame rails over the axle and was mounted high and tight with a steel or aluminum skid plate. My recollection is that the tank had a 45 degree angle at the leading edge to better slide over an obstacle.

I currently have a Ronco RV37W 14 gal. tank mounted in the bed of my trailer. Dimensions: 29.75 x 16.0 x 7.5. When put in the horizontal position, the 7.5" height doesn't leave enough clearance over the axle if I relocate my existing tank under the bed.

The closest standard size I can find that should fit is from the American Tank Company, 32.0 x 19.50 x 4.75, but it is rated for only 10 gal. I am looking for something about 35" x 26" x 5".

That is why I am trying to find the post I recall. The trailer owner had a tank custom built to fit between the side frame rails and the front and rear crossmembers, and thin enough to not cause clearance issues with the springs at full articulation. The post gave a source for the tank supplier, someplace in Northern or Central California.

There is, or was a fellow doing Plastic Welding in Camarillo, CA. I had him make the YJ from Hell's coolant overflow tank and modify the dash. I had a rough sketch of the tank's size and features and he built it spot-on.
