i have a 2008 Tacoma DCLB. looking for some ideas for an under seat lock box or some sort of lockable storage inside the cab. all ive seen so far are the console safes but im looking for something i can store extra cash, passports, iPad, etc.

anyone have any suggestions or examples of what you have used?

i know if a thief wants my stuff they will get it but im hoping just to put one extra roadblock for them.

I have a GunVault Nano for those times when my gun has to stay in the car. It should be able to store what you mentioned, but it depends on the size of your iPad. They're relatively cheap, secure and hide under your seat. Only downside I've found is it can be a pain to get out from under the seat. Pretty sure they're cheaper on Amazon, but Cabela's or Bass Pro should have them to look at.

Tuffy Security Products

Tuffy Security Products offers a couple of options for the Tacoma. I use the "Bed Security Lockbox" on my '06 Tacoma. It's a 16 gauge steel security box that replaces the plastic factory storage unit located in the Tacoma truck bed. They do offer a couple of other options you could mount in the cab including a locking tote with mounting sleeve. Very good quality product made in the USA.

With a little creativity, you can usually make the Bestop stuff work in other vehicles.

I have one of the Bestop lock boxes for a JK Wrangler mounted in my Astro van. The only work to make it fit was to make a replacement for the main mounting bar that's shaped to fit the seat-mounting humps in the Jeep. OK, mine is rattlecanned flat black instead of powdercoated, but otherwise it's factory looking.

There isn't enough to room under Toyota seats for any box. Plus there are sensitivity seat sensors that you can damage.

Incorrect in the fitment part. I've had one of these http://www.center-of-mass.com/Store_InCarGunSafe.htm under my passenger seat since 2006. It's not going to stop a thief with a little time but it will hopefully stop a smash and grab. There are some airbag sensors under the seat that you have to watch out for (I want to say they are on teh left side under the seat) but not that big a deal. You aren't going to be able to get a box much thicker than that under there though.
