(UPDATED)Gen 2 Cruise control issues again

So when i got my 95 LS the cruise worked fine, then it went out like 4 months later, light came on but wouldnt engage. Then i replaced the motor and actuator assembly with one from a pick n pull, cruise then worked perfect again.
Went out again maybe 3-5 months later.
So last weekend i found a 95 SR in a pull n pay with 150k miles and grabbed its cruise motor, not the actuator, and installed it in the parking lot. Cruise worked perfect again for a few days and then my highway trip home it got screwy. You activate it at say, 75mph, let off the gas, and it wont kick in until youre down to like 45mph, then holds at just 45.

Anything i could be missing? vacuum leak? theres only the one short line on this system. replace computer, switch, stalk? Do i just keep buying used pumps on their last legs? or is something causing extra strain on them and causing failure.
I cant find any place that sells these pumps or actuators rebuilt/new. Not sure what other mitsu vehicles montero shares it with.

(UPDATE FIXED IT)
Replaced the control stalk, thought it was fixed, replaced again, didnt fix. Was about to do master switch since no light on dash (burnt bulb turns out) Then realized my horn buttons weren't working and the airbag light had been on a while, they could be the same problem. Ordered a new clockspring assembly from china for $12, took two months to arrive but looked half decent. Replaced it and it fixed my cruise control and horn, probably need to unplug battery for the SRS light. Fit wasnt perfect but i managed it.
I spent practically all of 2017 with busted cruise and trying to fix it, i have basically an entire spare system for this truck now lol, can't believe i didnt look at clockspring first. I probably threw out 2 good vacuum pumps now that i think about it.

Thanks for following up! Mine goes to 60mph when set at 65 or so and I've been reluctant to start troubleshooting... I'll look into the clockspring :)

I was just browsing the FSM, I don't believe the cruise control wiring passes through the clock spring. Not sure what role the clock spring would be playing with that system.

The Clock Spring is associated with three things;
Airbag
Horn
Cruise Control [CC]

If the Airbag has deployed, it is often expected that the heat generated by the explosion will melt the internal switch - for the CC.
The Clock Spring must be replaced, & it is highly recommended that one obtain the OEM unit.
One should also inspect the Horn wiring for melting [but this is not common].
Reusing the old Clock Spring maybe possible, and the Airbag light will not come on, and the Horn may work - but very often the CC unit will not, because of internal failure.

Note; the new Clock Spring INCLUDES the CC Internal Switch!

Advisory; In regards to the Clock Spring...
Front End Alignments/ Service that involve disconnecting the Steering Shaft, if done improperly, will break the Clock Spring.
Know what you are doing, before disconnecting the Steering Shaft.

Much luck, safe travels

My 97 SR is doing the same thing, cruise control light is on but would not engage. I have pulled my brake pedal to upward motion with my foot and then my cruise control will engage. Seems like my brake pedal is barely engage for the cc will not engage. Just a thought. Goodluck!

sounds like the adjustment of the brake light switch is off, it also handles the task of canceling the CC.

If you read my last post on it, I've since fixed it with a china clockspring. Been good for 10k + miles so far with cruise control almost every day.
