OK, for anyone reading, got a good source for gas struts? Some struts would make my fold up bed a LOT easier to lift ..... I made it a bit to overkill. :Wow1:

I just ordered a set of 36" gas springs/struts from This seller on Ebay. Shipping was fast, price was better than I found anywhere else, and they seem like decent quality units. No reports on longevity yet.

Well I started back at the work. I've got to get everything to a usable point this weekend for the feat next weekend, and I still have kegs to rebuild. Today I got the braces for the bed legs done, the stringers for support of the plywood in, and got the pins installed for the fridge and freezer drawers. Ill take pics of the latter tomorrow.

Everything need to be cleaned up and partially painted so we dont get oil on our clothes. After fest I will tear everything down and and clean up the welds, paint and put on the finishing touches.

More pica tomorrow. Tonight a status of the bed standing on it's own.

Finished up the construction of the bed. Still need to paint it, but we have the SoCal Homebrewfest this weekend so I needed it to be at least usable. It will all come out and get cleaned up and painted later.

I welded a cross piece to the wall, then bolted the legs to that and screwed the base of the to the floor. The whole bed comes out quite easily.

Completely open. I made it tall enough so that we can store empty totes and dog crates underneath it. This will help out a lot while camping and give us a ton more room inside when set up.

In this pic you can see the headboard ring that is welded to the wall. This will be filled in with some plywood. The bed attaches at the top of the headboard ring.

All folded up it practically disappears.

More work

Got some more work done over the holiday break. I needed a cabinet for the furnace I picked up and also we needed some more storage. Spent a few days on this and it came out ok.

The furnace will be mounted in the cabinet under the drawers and have vents by the bathroom, in the bathroom, and facing towards the rear of the trailer. One of the drawers has a divider and both will be used for clothes. The top lifts up and is supported by gas struts to access storage on the top. There is also a door on the front to access the storage on top. The shelves have room for my cast iron cookware, foldup fire pit, propane stove, propane space heaters, and more. Turned out pretty good.

I plan on skinning the drawer fronts and side in white laminate. The top will be stained to compliment the paneling I am putting in and sealed. Trim pieces will be added to the exposed plywood ends on the front and the edge of the top. Will not be perfect, but will look good enough and should last a while.

Also need to figure out a fold down pivoting mount for a TV. I want it to mount to the exposed side, and fold down for travel and fold up for use with a pivot so it can be watched from anywhere in the downstairs.

Once we add the fold up dinette set this will be a pretty nice place to hang out. Just need to find the dinette local.
