Good find, Scott - and excellent pics! I'm still looking for a similar grade one myself. I love the classics. I have a M1 Garand manufactured between Sept. and Oct. 1943 - all serial matched. The bore is tight yet is beautifully worn. It's a joy to shoot. Who knows it's history, but every blemish and wear mark exudes character.

The 1911 (Browning) is like the 30-06, it's pretty hard to beat experienced success !!

Well after looking a bit and thnking about it more... Last week I ended up getting a barely-used Colt Government Model - Series 80 - O1991, 2002 vintage. The price was to good to pass up for essentially a new 1911. It's fantastic to shoot. I be giddy. :)

My next purchase is a set of .45ACP dies, so I can do some reloading!

To darn expensive to shoot factory ammo, at close to a buck a round:Wow1:

My first 1911 is a Springfield armory GI version I purchased in 1991. after about 11k rounds I had worn the bluing off the grip safety and trigger, and had to have the frame coated in a silver finish. I put metrolite night sights on it with a pacmire main spring housing and houge grips. at the time I could not afford trijcon as they were more money and the metrolite's were only warranty for 5 years ( they still work to this day)

at around 15K rounds I had to replace the ejector plus quite a few recoil springs :sombrero:

I have around 25k round's through it now and other then those items the gun is a little loose and accuracy is down (needs a barrel) I want to send it back to springfield armory to have it rebuilt and updated. It mostly sits in the safe now.

I even sold it once.....and then bought it back from the guy about 4 months after. (it was my first carry gun for about 7 years)

I grew up shooting a friends 1911 (remington made under license during WWII)

thanks for the photo's and fond memories.
