Usable space under truck

Anyone thought of ideas for usuable space under a truck?
Like where the spare goes, and behind the fender and in front of the fender on the bed of the truck where all this empty space is...

Seems like a great place to put liquids, etc.. store gear..

Low to the ground = low center of gravity on heavy items..

What are your thoughts for usable space and what to use the space for under pickup trucks with normal beds.

I'm interested in ideas as well. I've got an commanche bed that I'm going to be converting to a trail and was thinking of using this space as well.

Tons of usable space under there. I know that they have larger fuel tanks for some full size trucks that use up some of the extra space behind the stock tank (Titan tanks, I believe). It is also a great spot to put an air tank for on-board air. It would be pretty sweet to have a water tank under there too. Maybe some lockable storage too, away from prying eyes

I guess the only issue would be damage to the containment units that you put under there, but the fuel tank is under there so maybe it is a non-issue.

You could mount your spare on the rear like an SUV and have that entire section of the bed free for space. It would even have a convenient lowering mechanism built right in for a storage locker.

I've never seen space behind the fuel tank, usually the fuel tank goes all the way back with enough clearance for the axle and shocks, longer bed trucks just have a longer tank usually ~30 gallon instead of ~25.
Mine has a big empty space behind the transfer case and in front of the gas tank I was thinking of mounting a water tank.
The recent military CUCV's have a battery on the passenger side outside the frame in front of the rear wheel in that waster space, i was thinking of doing the same, then cut the outer body right about the bed floor and hinge the bottom to make doors then on the drivers side store some gear there.

I was thinking the same thing! anyone know of a place that can cut your fenders and make doors from the metal they cut out? Kinda link the new dodges and stuff that have those built in tool boxes on the outside of the beds.

Those larger tanks fill the space in front of the fuel tank not behind, my mistake. A water tank in front would be sweet. You could run a filler hose inside the gas cap door (just don't mix them up!)

It would be sweet also to have a storage locker where the spare tire is, but put a locking access door inside the bed, kind of like the Ridgeline.

I was toying with the dead space between the outter and inner bed sides... making a box in there, that is accessed from the outside... would require cutting body panels though.... and most dont have the stomach for that...

We have had a couple of ExPo members use that space for jerry cans. I have read on other forums about people using the space under the body to keep spare axle shafts and drive shafts. Some are capping PVC tubes to keep the stored gear clean.

The tanks go all the way back on any I've ever looked at, even narrow at the rear to allow room for the differential.

I'm thinking of putting the water tank under for grey water, my camper has a 15 gallon water tank but no drain tank.
