Cool write up and pics. What year is your Lexus? I have a friend who has one on 40s.

The Lexus is an '06. One of the first things I did when I got it was get tires, and right when I saw it with tires on, I wished I got bigger tires. Oh well, once these 7 wear out, I will get bigger ones. Not 40s; but probably 33s.

Man, i gotta get to Utah! You have some guts shaking down new bumpers and a new chaser on an adventure like that. Sweet set up. I think your tires look good too. Thanks for sharing!

When I had the bumpers put on at the Expo, I was debating if I should keep the old ones or toss them. Since I was going on a week long trip after that without a place to store them other than on the top of the trailer, I decided to toss them. If you need a bumper, let Southern Style Speed know. I would recommend one of their bumpers, but if you don't want to shell out the coin, they may be able to hook you up with someone who has a sliver GX and is getting a new bumper.

Utah was great, I will certainly go back! I was a little hesitant to go on a big trip with so much new gear, but it worked out better than expected. I watched the bumpers go on, and I got a good feeling as Kevin showed me all the places that he over-engineered. He did strength testing on the front bumper, and the stainless mounting hardware broke before the bumper did. That's a solid bumper. The Turtleback Trailer did great also! Once I got the tire pressure and weight distribution figured out, it towed like a dream and only had a few minor issues (mostly from us being unfamiliar with it).

Thank you for the response. I will contact Southern Style Speed. I need one to replaced the damaged one on mine. I don't take this one off road. I have a JK for doing all my offroading. I was at the Expo and checked out the Turtleback trailer. I like this trailer, but I already have a Seirra 4x4 trailer all modified. It tows great too. Jk just needs more power on the hills/mountains.

Great write up Shaun! That was an amazing trip. Thursday I'm heading out for some of the same areas to shake down my new Turtleback. I finally get one of my own!

Looks like a great trip. Nice reports and photos.

Went over to Turtleback Trailers' site to take a look at them, saw your trip pics up on their homepage. Nice!! (I assume/hope they did that with your permission.)

Great report! We are hitting Parashant via Fredonia/Toroweep after OX15. We have a Turtleback also and are looking to an extended trip. What spares other than the obvious did you bring for the truck? That is my only concern for solo vehicle travel cutting across the North Rim. We are traveling with an 11 month old. Medical and sustainment we are fine, HAM, cell and InReach SAT for comms. Hoses and belt, tire repair and compressor, tools, extra fuel and vehicle water. Map, compass, and GPS/Mapping. Suggestions?
