V8 temp gauge for 200tdi, accurate?

I have a question about the temperature gauge on a 110 that was previously V8, now 200tdi. It runs to the edge of red and stays, depending on speed sometimes the needle wanders into the red zone. Will a V8 gauge read accurately for a 200tdi?

Beg, borrow or steal one of these:

That will tell you how hot your engine is running... THEN you can worry about your gauge.

Answered your email. The resistance is totally different- you need the correct gauge.
