Moody
Needs to get out more
Hay much gas was used overnight with that temperature?
I would say we burned about one of the 1 lb. cylinders each night...

Great to see the pics of Comb Ridge, haven't been there in a couple of years will be spending a day or so there on my way down to the overlandexpo, can't wait for April! :wings:
Good stuff!
We spent the long weekend camping off Butler wash just out of Bluff. Explored several canyons and found several new-to-us ruins.
Still lots of snow! It got up to the mid-forties in the day and we got to see a few small flash floods from the snowmelt.
I am hoping that the wildflowers will be in full force after all of the snow down there.
Were there many people down there?
Amazing how even a little snow cange change a landscape and really bring it to life.
Hopefully we can find the same solitude you found when we venture back there in April. There was an RV parked just past the gate at the entrance to S. Butler Wash Road but we didn't see anyone else the whole weekend.
That coffee shop in Bluff is sweet!
It is amazing how much snow is down there. I was in Moab a couple of weeks ago, and discussed with a local gentleman the amount of snow being abnormal for the area. Seems the SW is getting hit hard, but I have absolutely no snow in my front yard.Fun pictures and a great read. I think we were in the same area mid-December. We crossed over 8,000' with 4' of snow on the ground. Good times.
Back to Moab next month (1st weekend of March) and then back to Cedar Mesa April 1st-5th.Moody, I always look forward to your trip reports but I must say I'm little disappionted in this one. I was hoping for some pics of a warm Southwestern part of the country to make me forget about the constant snow here. So here comes another Moody report and bam, more snow! Uggggg!!! I just can't escape the torment of the white frozen moisture of doom. How far south or southwest must one go to escape this dreaded stuff.
Seriously though, another great report and your photos of that area with a covering of snow are pretty unique and cool. Well worth waiting for the old dail up connection to download them. Thanks for sharing another of your trips. Where ya headin' next? :smiley_drive:
Interesting thing to say about that area.. I don't recall ever seeing any pics of that area with this much snow (water) on the ground..
A couple of years back they had an extra inch or two of water that hit Death Valley early in the spring.. It wasn't long before the normally dry dead desert was overtaken by the blooms of flowers that had been dormant for a good number of years..
Makes me wonder if this area is gonna bloom out again next spring..
