VARIO TEMPATURE GAUGE

Can anyone tell me where the temperature gauge sits on the Vario while in normal running conditions ?

Mine seems to be a little on the high side, although it has not shown any signs of overheating, so it may be a faulty sender! hopefully.:sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny::sunny:

Cant remember exactly as I've not used mine much lately but do know mine runs pretty cool.

Between 80 and 90 degrees on mine, always below the red though. Just got back from France and going over the Vosges Mountains with ambient temps in the 30s, fan kicked in and kept engine temp in the normal range.

My 917af om366a runs at 80C unless: it is very cold,( winter). It is on a long engine brake descent, on a long steep ascent in hot conditions.

The manual states:
"Depending upon the operating conditions and ambient temperature, coolant operating temperature in continuous operation ranges from 70-95c
Brief vehicle operation (10 minutes at most) at a coolant temperature of 100c is permissible. This temperature, however, should not be exceeded."

BTW it is good practice to always allow a few minutes at idle to cool the turbo before shut down.
