Viking GS-9

Has anyone installed or used the new Viking GS-9. Viking has a great reputation and their winch is fantastic looking. I hear its basically a pretty super winch. Its priced right, but I really don't want to get a piece of junk. I know about Warn & Superwinch, so no sales needed.

I installed one on my GWagen, it is indeed made by the same company that builds Superwinch. There are a few notable benefits of this winch, on par with the Warn, including the contactor solenoid, viking winch line, machined aluminum cross-brace, etc. It is a high quality winch with a unique look and upgraded components including the synthetic line and thimble. That would be the benefit of buying one.

Any news on this winch? Seems pretty good.
I emailed to get full specs like load/line speed/amp draw.

So after looking at a LOT of winches I bought a GS-9. Got it new on eBay from Viking for $519 shipped with no line. Everything I've seen points towards the GS-9 being a rebadged and modified Superwinch EP9.0. I picked up a 3/8"x80' ASR Offroad winchline for $230 shipped and a Rokmen big Hawse fairlead for another $93 shipped.
So altogether I'm in for ~$843 shipped for everything brand new.

I will let you know how the Viking does. I have always had Warn winches, but the Viking is very nice.

Here's some pics of mine installed. I pulled the contactor pack out of the box and remotely mounted it behind the grill. I also have the remote plug mounted in the grill by the drivers side Hella light.
No line yet because ASR royally screwed the pooch and I'm battling with them to get a refund. I ordered up a 3/8"x85' MasterPull line for the same price. And I sold the fairlead that came with the GS-9 so my total out of pocket for the whole winch/fairlead/line package is down to about $785. :sombrero:
