WHEN: 06 JAN 07

ATTEMPED DESTINATION: Topographical Hill Camp Site near Williams, AZ.

Lt. Whipple camped in the area on Jan 2nd 1854 - I'd like to see the area in similar conditions!

MEETING POINT: Safeway parking lot in Chino Valley, AZ.
northwest corner of Hyw 89 and Road 2 North.

TIME: Meet at 9:00 AM, Depart 9:30 AM

WEATHER/ROAD CONDITIONS: Will be updated as required.

VEHICLE RECOMMENDATIONS: Depends on the weather! If it's dry, it's 2x4, if it snows we might not be able to access the area at all. High clearance 4x4 recommended, a rear locker and/or chains may be required.

Would love to tag along for this one but alas my back shocks have taken a detour through Australia. We're going to try and pick them up in Guam when we fly out there in a week. Maybe the plane will stop......

Cool!

Glad to have ya both along. Weather conditions permitting, we'll also try to hike up to the southern end of Topographical Hill. It'll be pretty slow going with my knees being toast, but I'd really like to get to the same view point Whipple did.

Can I be penciled in as a maybe on this one? I am not sure if I will be in jet training then or not.

no problem!

and if you are in jet training, you know where we'll be...

...and I expect to have a low level pass executed flawlessly. :hehe:

The weather looks good for Saturday! Expect highs in the low 40's with a very slight chance of snow showers.

Please let me know if you still plan on attending.
