Volvo c202 Doka 4x4

It is actually a Volvo C202 from either 1980 or 81. It was a updated and little modernized version of the original Volvo 903 made during the 60's. The C202 was actually licensed out to a factory in Hungary for construction. There were approximately only 3000 C202s made during the 2 years of production.

A price a little on the high side even if there are not too many in the US. A little high due to the fact that the parts for the 202 are alittle harder to find and more expensive. The drum brakes are the biggest cost. Best to replace them with discs from a Lada Niva and brakes from a 80's VW. This is one of many thing I will be doing during the renovation of my 903. http://web.me.com/teddsoost/Fotovalpen_2.0/Home.html Parts for the original version are much easier and cheaper as many of the parts are the same as Volvos other modells from the 60s, like the PV 444.

The crew cab version like this one was actually quite common and was popular with electric companies who needed to get to more remote places for repairs.

A VERY good truck in the terrain!!!

I went and took a look.

THE GOOD.

The owner is a nice enough guy. Seems like he is drowning in projects.
1) Low Miles.
2) Interior is in good shape.

THE BAD

1) The title is from a different state (Virginia???)and is not in his name (We are in California). He got the c202 as a trade, and has not done anything to legally get it into his name. For me this was the end of the deal, since I'm not going to hand someone a pile of cash for a vehicle that isn't in their name.

2) It has rust. It may not scare someone away who lives back east and is used to swiss cheese cars, but in my opinion it is in rough shape. I guess it was used as a plow truck, and they must have plowed areas that were salted. Lots of little pockets of rot, and what really worries me is what the box frame looks like. I did not have a screwdriver or a pick hammer to investigate the condition of the frame. I did not see any rot, but who knows what may or may not be there.

3) Little stuff... Missing tailgate, windshield wipers, air cleaner...etc.

I'd like to have one for a daily driver, but he would have to come WAY down on price, and get the title straightened out.

Hope this helps out some others that may be interested. I got sidetracked and did not take a camera with me, so no pictures.
