VW LT35 with 2.4L six-cylinder diesel DW engine - help needed, timing

So the thing happened, the timing-belt snapped and hence naturally destroyed the camshaft.

I will get a new cylinder-head with camshaft and the other stuff needed to fix the engine. Could anybody help out and provide instructions on timing off the cam and the injection-pump?

Appreciate any insights - thx.

Never seen a DW myself, but the 5 and 4 cylinder variant have a locking plate that goes in a slot on the end of the camshaft. Then you lock the pump with its locking pin. The crank is aligned using the marks on the flywheel. Another option to find TDC is a small tube in the injector hole. Fill it with oil, and find TDC by the oil level.

A vw specific forum might have some experts. I know there are some vs diesel gurus on thesamab.com in the vanagon sub forum.

Check some of the Volvo forums for the D24T and -TIC instructions; Volvo used the 2.4 VW 6 in the 200, 700 and 900s, so the knowledge is there.

Hope that helps,

Ed
