Dang. That thing is pretty cool. Is that really an accurate price tag for that? That seems very high.. but I dont know much about these anyway. So it could be reasonable.

I know seems like a ton to me too, but some people seem to love em. For that price I would setup a built Taco with a 4 wheel camper on the back. Brand new and better off road. Also could leave the camper as a base camp, but I guess if you wanted an SMB this is cheaper.

Given that I now own one of these myself, I can tell you that 56K is entirely reasonable. If I had that kind of money I would have bought this (which was for sale when I was looking) rather than my ride. That is a very good example (low miles, well restored) with almost all the extra goodies. If you look close at the dash console you'll see 2 knobs in the center: those are lockers. All it's missing is the third (which runs <$1000) front locker. Get all 3 and the only place you'll ever take a built Tacoma where this can't go is a trail that requires a high degree of articulation. You were right that this is more comparable to an SMB, with less comforts but way better offroad. Also that engine makes 2.5x the original ponies.

I really wish someone would build something like this again for a reasonable cost. VW/Audi, Subaru, and Jeep could all build relatively inexpensive rear engined, 4WD, FC platforms with minimal modification to their existing drivetrains. Okay rant over. If someone is considering buying this feel free to hit me up for more info because my rig is mechanically identical, just worse in every way
