On the hunt for an 18ft Sunrader. The unicorn of a 4x4 would be great but also happy to do some work on a 2x4 to accommodate the trip plans we have. Been checking on CL and other sites but from looking at past threads/posts here it seems this is an amazing place for enthusiasts.
Any leads are appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Drlee,

I tried to reply w a private msg but it says your inbox is full.

Thank you for the message and offer. Since I've started searching for Sunraders I've come across yours a few times in posts/forums, it's amazing.

It's unfortunately going to be out of our price range, as we're hoping to find one that we can do some of the work to ourselves. If I suddenly have a large financial windfall you might be hearing from me.

If you don't mind, what was the difference you felt between the Sunrader and the Syncro? I owned an 87 syncro westy (still regret selling it), and curious your thoughts on how the Sunrader performs/compares.

Observer
In my opinion, there is no comparison between the perfromance of my Sunrader and a VW Syncro with lockers: The Syncro will go anywhere, the Sunrader is more of a forestry road, or get you out of trouble if you go someplace you probably should not have. That being said, the Sunrader has a bathroom and shower (makes my wife happy) and a couple of comforatable beds. Where I love the Sunrader is the back dinette and windows. In short, we love the Sunrader for what it is, a really cool old 4x4 rig that has some good comforts, but if you want to get to the really hard to get places the Syncro kills it, especially if it has a Subie in it. Hope that helps.
