warn dual force and ARB Bull bars

Does any one know if you can get a dual force ( air compressor and winch) on an ARB bull bar bumper on a 07 tacoma? I know they ARB will fit but it is spec'd only for the M and 9500 lb winches series winches. Also does anyone about the other air compressor /combo winches that are out I think XRC make them>

Yes, I do know - NO YOU CAN'T.

The ARB winch bumper for the Tacoma (and most of their bumpers) are designed for internal winch mounting - requiring slimline style winches that can have there clutch assemblies clocked for proper clearance. Warn winches are among the few that can do that, but the huge Dual Force winch requires an external "shelf" mount because of its bulk.

And I would suggest staying away from XRC (Smittybilt = 4 Wheel Parts) winches in general; IMO they are not of the same quality as the Warn (and some other) winches.

Thanks

So do you or does anyone know what winch bumper would handle a dual force warn winch or do I have to go to the separate winch and compressor route. how do people feel about mile marker winches or super winch?

Like cruiserlarry said most of the ARB bumpers do not work for the PowerPlant. The bumpers are made for winches that mount feet forward. I believe ARB only makes a couple of bumpers for Jeeps that will fit the PowerPlant. But, you obviously can modify one to fit it. That's what I did for the ARB on my 2003 Tahoe.

Buckstop has an option on all their bumpers for the PowerPlant. It's a $125 modification charge (on top of the cost of the bumper) if you want to go that route.

Tahoe and Dual force

That looks good. What did you have to do to modify it? Was it just cutting the a hole to fit the higher profile? Did you have to re-drill or drill the mount ing holes through the base of the bumper so the winch could be bolted down? DO the mounting holes on the bumper match the the mounting holes on the winch?

On this ARB bumper it was a few things. First, there was a rectangular plate or door that you could take off to access the top of the winch. This was taken out and the hole that was left was made a little larger to accommodate the height and width of the PowerPlant.

The next part was the most important. Since the bumper is made for winches that mount feet forward, there were not holes on the bottom of the bumper to mount the winch (the mounting holes are behind the fairlead). So, a mounting plate (with four new mounting holes) had to be welded in the correct area in order to line up with the winch line hole. I have a friend that welds for a living, so he knew what he was doing. If you're not fairly familiar with welding, this is where you would want someone that knows what they're doing. As the winch is mounted to this plate, is has to be strong enough to take the pulling force.

That was basically it. Looking back, it's much easier to get a winch and separate onboard compressor. Plus, an onboard compressor has more flexibility (being able to hook up other equipment).
