WARN elc motor questions

why do they have 3 post's ?

how do they work

i know how a 2 post motor works but unsure of the 3

i got a few used winches i wanna see if the motors are any good but i dont have any solinoids

One for forward, one for reverse, and one for the neutral/negative. You should be able to look the motor up on the internet and figure out which pole is what.

I know where they go but y is there a neutral ?
